SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Summary

This position is located in the DEA, Operations Division (OC), Academy Operations Section, Logistics and Acquisition Support Unit.

This position(s) primary purpose is to assist the Support Services Supervisor in developing, reviewing, evaluating, recommending, and implementing an effective supply management program within DEA Headquarters and foreign office locations. In addition, the different training programs require a broad range of specialized and technical equipment.

• Oversees supply chain operations for training programs, including inventory, shipping and equipment manangement.
• Develops and improves logistics processes, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Manages budgets and ensures funding is used properly for shipping and services.
• Reviews and approves invoices, contracts and procurement actions.
• Conducts inspections and evaluates contractor services & deliverables.
• Prepares reports and advises leadership on contractor performances and risks.
• Serves as a subject matter expert on shipping, hazardous materials, and logistics regulations.

Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements:

• Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  
  

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Receives, stores and issues supplies, equipment and materials; 2) Helps review invoices and confirms items/services were received; 3) Assists in preparing basic reports or documentation related to contracts; 4) Maintains organized contract files and records; 5) Helps with ordering supplies; and, 6) Tracks inventory and updates records to ensure items are accounted for.

• Education: Have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree -or- two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assists with shipping and receiving, including domestic and international shipments; 2) Supports warehouse operations, including equipment upkeep and proper storage; 3) Helps prepare reports, procedures and basic documentation for logistic operations; 4) Maintains records for equipment, inventory and shipments; and 5)Tracks deliverables and helps ensure contract requirements are met.
