Summary

This position is located in the DEA, San Francisco California, Field Division.

This position's primary purpose is to support the Field Division General Service Unit (GSU) Chief, providing overall planning and administration of programs, oversight and leadership to GSU in support of Division leadership.

As a Your Typical Work Assignments May Include

  • Establishing electronic files and databases, composing correspondence, and assisting with the preparation of reports and briefings on special projects.
  • Prepares requests for personnel actions (also known as SF-52s, RPAs, or PARs), working closely with Headquarters Human Resources Specialist(s) and Management within the Division.
  • Researches and resolves general issues related to employee pay and leave.
  • Performs vehicle management, including ensuring timely maintenance, service, repairs, supplement equipment, and documentation.
  • Conducts periodic inventory of equipment and property utilization.
  • Establishes, files, maintains, purges, and disposes of office records/files in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  • Completes routine logistics functions to include supply management, inventory management, accountable property management, facility management, and transportation and fleet management/maintenance.

Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application.

Applicants applying for the GS-07 must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administrative support functions to an office related to the operations of various programs, such as administrative, human resource liaison, internal control, logistics, fleet, personal property (accountable and non-accountable), supply management, quality assurance, records management, and Task Force management; 2) Assisting senior specialists in the preparation and processing of confidential employee matters; 3) Carrying out specified segments of specific projects (e.g., data collection and analysis, preparing reports, briefings, etc.); and 4) Preparing and consolidates time and attendance records.

EDUCATION:
Completed one full academic year of graduate-level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Superior Academic Achievement: Successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B " or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).

Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing projects related to compliance audit and review programs, policies, procedures, and practices concerning HQ goals and significant areas of interest.; 2) Preparing and processing of confidential employee matters; 3) Carrying out specified segments of specific projects (e.g., data collection and analysis, preparing reports, briefings, etc.); 4) Addressing complex problems or interrelated issues in developing and maintaining a strong administrative program; 5) Providing guidance to management, recommending actions to ensure the economical and efficient use of equipment and other property; and 6) Provide guidance to management, recommending actions to ensure the economical and efficient use of equipment and other property.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
