Summary

Drug Crafters is seeking a detail-oriented Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy operations team. This role is responsible for preparing and compounding customized non-sterile medications while maintaining the highest standards of organization, cleanliness, quality, and regulatory compliance.


The ideal candidate understands the critical importance of maintaining a clean and organized compounding environment, accurately documenting all activities, and adhering to USP <795> and USP <800> requirements to ensure product integrity, patient safety, and operational excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and compound non-sterile medications, including creams, capsules, suspensions, troches, and other customized dosage forms.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, mix, package, and label compounded preparations according to formulation records and prescription requirements.
  • Handle hazardous drugs in compliance with USP <800> requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), containment strategies, and decontamination procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate compounding records, logs, and documentation.
  • Perform calculations related to ingredient quantities and compound formulations.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates of ingredients and supplies.
  • Maintain an exceptionally organized compounding workspace and storage areas to support workflow efficiency, inventory accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform routine cleaning, sanitization, decontamination, and environmental maintenance activities in accordance with pharmacy procedures and USP standards.
  • Ensure all hazardous drugs, ingredients, equipment, and supplies are properly stored, labeled, and handled in compliance with USP <800> requirements.
  • Support quality assurance activities, including formula verification, beyond-use dating, and documentation review.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations, USP standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other pharmacy team members to ensure timely prescription fulfillment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments related to compounding and regulatory requirements.


Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in a compounding pharmacy environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working under USP <800> guidelines and handling hazardous drugs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining organized, inspection-ready work areas and strict adherence to cleaning, documentation, and USP <800> compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of USP <795> requirements for non-sterile compounding.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations and follow formulas.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-sterile compounding experience in a 503A compounding pharmacy.
  • Experience with pharmacy management and compounding software systems.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory inspection expectations.
  • Experience compounding hormone, peptide, dermatological, or weight-management formulations.
