Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time Physician to perform DOT (FedMed) and non-DOT employment physicals and issue FMCSA medical certificates (MCSA This is an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking flexible hours, minimal administrative burden, and a low-stress clinical environment. The successful candidate will maintain accurate documentation, ensure timely electronic transmission of exam results, and uphold the highest standards of occupational health in our clinic environment.

Pay Rate: Typically $60-$85/hr (based on volume)
Key Responsibilities:
DOT / FedMed Physicals
- Conduct FMCSA-compliant DOT physical examinations for commercial drivers per 49 CFR Part 391.
- Complete and submit Medical Examination Reports (MCSA-5875) and Medical Examiner's Certificates (MCSA-5876).
- Electronically upload exam results to the FMCSA National Registry within 48 hours.
- Ensure data transmission meets Wisconsin DMV's National Registry II integration requirements, as mandated statewide.
- Review medical histories and assess health factors including vision, hearing, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and urinalysis results.
Non-DOT Physicals
- Conduct pre-employment, post-offer, return-to-work, and annual employment physicals per employer and state guidelines.
- Evaluate physical fitness, vital signs, vision, hearing, cardiovascular health, posture, range of motion, and functional abilities.
- Document results accurately and confidentially under HIPAA standards.
- Customize evaluations to employer job requirements and provide recommendations as needed.
Other Duties
- Counsel drivers and employees on findings, follow-up needs, and preventative health best practices.
- Collaborate with clinic staff to maintain efficient scheduling, workflow, and client satisfaction.
- Stay current on FMCSA rules, WisDOT occupational health policy, and local safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Current MD or DO license in Wisconsin.
- FMCSA Certified Medical Examiner (or in progress of obtaining certification).
- Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations and medical qualification standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and professional communication with drivers and employers.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Prior experience performing DOT physicals, occupational health, or urgent care exams.
- Knowledge of electronic reporting systems (e.g., FormFox, eScreen, or similar platforms).

Certification Pathway (If Not Yet Certified)
