Job description:
Radiology practice in Dearborn, MI looking to hire a Medical Biller. No experience necessary but 2-3 years a plus. Work will be remote. Initial training will be in office for the first few weeks 7 am-3:30 pm. Live in Detroit area within 1 hour drive of Dearborn a must.
Responsibilities include:
- Assigns codes to documented diagnostic imaging tests based on guidelines specific to diagnosis and procedure.
- Select appropriate codes from ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
- Apply advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic tests to ensure proper code selection
- Adhere to accepted coding guidelines and policies.
- Review patient records to abstract medical data to ensure proper coding.
- Answer patient phone calls to resolve account issues in a friendly and professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Medical Coding
- Knowledge of Radiology a plus but not necessary.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office. Experience using billing software a plus.
- Knowledge of insurances and their processes.
- Have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Team player mentality.
- Be able to work efficiently and productively on your own.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods on technical specialized detail work.
- Possess effective and professional communication skills for interaction with patients.
- Be able to problem solve to research and resolve issues to ensure proper codes are assigned to the encounter.
- Highly motivated and be able to function independently.
Education/Training/Skills:
- Minimum High School Diploma.
- Medical Coding.
- Credentialed in coding or working towards credentialing a plus.
- Must have a home computer or laptop.
