What You'll Do

• Teach students the skills necessary to safely operate Class A and Class B commercial vehicles.
• Instruct students on pre-trip inspections, in-cab inspections, vehicle control, backing maneuvers, and safe driving techniques.
• Prepare students for the Utah CDL skills examination through hands-on instruction and coaching.
• Provide constructive feedback that builds student confidence and develops safe driving habits.
• Communicate with students by phone and text to coordinate training sessions, answer questions, and support their progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and training hours.
• Conduct routine inspections of training vehicles and report maintenance concerns.
• Assist with fueling, staging, and positioning training vehicles as needed.
• Ensure all instruction is delivered in accordance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
• Foster a positive, professional learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to succeed.
• Represent CDL Driving Academy with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Clean driving record.
• Minimum of two years of Class A driving experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb in and out of commercial vehicles throughout the day.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous CDL instructor, trainer, or driver mentor experience.
• Experience teaching or coaching adults.
• Passenger endorsement.
• No manual transmission restriction.
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred but not required).
• Experience using technology for scheduling, texting, or maintaining student records.
