The Role

We are hiring a Director of Digital Marketing to lead the strategy, performance, and growth of our marketing department. This is a senior leadership role. You will own the vision for how we rank and convert for our clients, lead a team of SEO, content, and paid media specialists, and be accountable for the department's budgets and results. You will still be deeply fluent in the work, but your primary job is to set direction, raise the bar on quality, and build a team that consistently wins.

What You Will Own

Department Leadership

• Set and drive the overall SEO and digital marketing strategy across the client portfolio
• Lead and develop a department of SEO specialists, content specialists, and paid media strategists
• Own department budgets across link building, citations, content, and software, and manage them to a return
• Partner with the Director of Operations to improve efficiency, service quality, and delivery standards
• Serve as the escalation point for account managers on complex client issues and strategy questions

Strategy and Standards

• Define and maintain the standard operating procedures the team executes against, from onsite optimization to site architecture
• Set SEO requirements for new web builds before launch, including site architecture, URL structure, and redirect planning
• Prioritize and delegate work across the team, stepping into execution when the situation calls for it

Technical, Onsite, and Local SEO Expertise

• Direct technical SEO across the portfolio: resolving 404s with 301 redirects, and interpreting Google Search Console, GA4, and Core Web Vitals
• Lead local SEO strategy, including ranking and optimizing Google Business Profiles in Google Maps
• Fluency with tools such as Ahrefs, AgencyAnalytics, Screaming Frog, BrightLocal, Local Falcon, and Yoast

GEO / LLM and AI-Driven Process

• Push the team to use AI to improve process, quality, and speed of delivery
• Build and show automations created with scheduled tasks or Claude Code
• Test and develop strategies for ranking businesses in GEO and LLM-based search
• Adapt quickly as search engines and AI search continue to change

Paid Media Oversight

• Guide strategy across paid channels, including LSA, PPC, and paid social
• Hold campaigns accountable to real results: CPC, CTR, and cost per lead

Client Communication

• Articulate SEO strategy, expected outcomes, and timelines to clients and account managers when needed

What You Bring

• 5 or more years in digital marketing, with a track record of leading or mentoring others
• Proven experience ranking service-based businesses for high-competition, high-volume keywords in both organic and local search
• Hands-on experience with Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Google Analytics / GA4, Google Search Console, and rank trackers
• Experience running paid campaigns across Google Ads, Local Service Ads, and Meta Ads
• Experience identifying and solving SEO problems with minimal direction
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code
• Law firm or legal marketing experience is a strong plus

Strong preference for candidates who can show screenshots of past wins from rank trackers, Google Analytics, and paid campaigns.

The Details

Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience

Location: In person in Greenville, SC 29607. Candidates must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting
