Family Ministry Assistant Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-energy, versatile, and proactive Family Ministry Assistant to support both our Children’s and Youth Ministries. This role is designed for a self-starter who is passionate about fostering a welcoming environment for families and is ready to jump into any task—from high-level lesson facilitation to behind-the-scenes logistics.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, balances multiple responsibilities with a "can-do" attitude, and possesses the interpersonal skills to engage and communicate effectively with everyone from toddlers to parents.
Core Responsibilities
Sunday Youth and Children’s Programming & Facilitation
- Lead the Experience: Help run, teach and support as needed in the Sunday Clubhouse (K-3), Tweens Class (4th-5th) or Project Greenlight (6th-8th).
- Hospitality & Logistics: Arrive early for set-up, manage the check-in process, and act as a primary greeter for new and returning families to ensure a seamless "first look" experience.
- Teaching & Leadership: Deliver engaging children’s sermons periodically in the worship service. Help lead/teach in the Clubhouse, Tweens, or Project Greenlight lessons/activities with enthusiasm and clarity.
- Operational Excellence: Manage the full lifecycle of Sunday mornings, including environment prep and post-event tear-down.
Weekly Operations & Ministry Support
- Curriculum & Tech: Learn and navigate the Orange/Amazing Life curriculum system; design and load presentation slides into ProPresenter and coordinate with the AV team for technical execution.
- Environment Stewardship: Maintain excellent "curb appeal" for our spaces—organizing the nursery & Pre-K room, and other Youth & Children’s ministry spaces and closets to ensure they are clean, welcoming, and functional.
- Event Planning: Assist in the conceptualization and execution of Family Ministry special events throughout the year: Trail of Treats, Advent Fest, Instant Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, Summer VBX, Youth Retreats, and more!
- Administrative & Resource Management: Proactively source and purchase supplies, organize materials, and prepare rooms for upcoming mid-week and Sunday programs.
Relational Engagement
- Family Connection: Build meaningful relationships with kids, youth, and parents by regular presence and availability on Sunday mornings, and other Youth and Children’s events by request.
- Ministry Flexibility: Serve as a bridge between Children’s and Youth ministries, remaining flexible to pivot between age groups and tasks as ministry needs shift.
Required Qualifications
- Self-Starter Mentality: Ability to identify what needs to be done and execute tasks without constant supervision.
- Strong Communicator: Comfortable speaking before groups of children and adults, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with (or a quick ability to learn) ProPresenter and Orange/Amazing Life curriculum.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to assist in the set-up and tear-down of environments (moving chairs, supplies, etc.) and comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs.
Key Schedule Elements & Commitment
- Weekly Sunday Requirements: Actively support Sunday services and programs (such as teaching/leading in Clubhouse, Tweens, or Project Greenlight, greeting, checking in, running games, etc.).
- Weekly Requirement: Support "Play Dates" (including set-up and/or tear down)every Monday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Attend church Staff Meetings every Tuesday (9:30AM - 11:00AM). Additional work schedule to be determined and agreed upon in advance.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
