What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kindergarten Teacher - Pathways School position at Dripping Springs Methodist Church?
We are seeking a full-time Kindergarten Teacher for Pathways School at Dripping Springs Methodist Church. The teacher will be responsible for creating and executing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, delivering engaging and effective classroom instruction, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Daily tasks include guiding children in their educational and personal development, communicating with parents and staff, and incorporating faith-based values into the curriculum. This is an on-site role located in Dripping Springs, TX.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Create daily written lesson plans that offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum, and addresses the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, language, and spiritual development of the children in their class.
- Lesson Plans and Supply Requests are turned in monthly on specified date.
- Prepare and deliver regular communication (written & verbal) with parents regarding their individual child and class topics: curriculum, events, child development, parenting, etc.
- Include extensions from chapel lessons in the classroom with songs, stories, prayers, and activities that reinforce the Christian purpose of the school, and model lessons and values through your behaviors and interactions with students.
- Care for the room and equipment: submitting written supply request to Asst. Director on specified date each month, and reporting equipment (both indoor and outdoor) that needs repair.
- Cooperate with Sunday School and Extended Day teachers or others sharing the room.
- Keep ongoing, written, anecdotal records, evaluations, report cards, conference notes, work samples (portfolio) for each child in your class. 1st 9 wks: Progress Report, 2nd-4th 9wks: Report Card
- A copy of report cards, evaluations, and conference notes will be kept in child’s office file
- Plan for any needed parent conferences either by telephone or in person: At least 1 fall and 1 spring, more if needed
- Plan and coordinate activities involving the class, cooperating with the Director and other teachers in activities involving the whole school. (Theme days class parties, chapel presentations, etc.)
- Positively communicate needs and expectations with Kindergarten Teaching Assistant.
- Be present during contracted teaching hours 8:30-2:30, and 30 minutes before (8:00) and after (3:00) student arrival and dismissal.
- Be trained in and able to perform routine first aid procedures and CPR.
- Follow State Minimum Standards for Licensed Child-Care Centers and help maintain compliance.
- Participate in all staff meetings, recommended training programs (24 hours required annually by state), conferences, and parent meetings.
- Consult with the Director in cases of unusual behavior problems, parent concerns, or other problems, and keep such issues confidential between involved persons only.
- Be actively responsible for the general safety, supervision, and management of a class.
- Work with other teachers, staff, and Director as part of a team focused on the best interest of the child.
- Serve as an ambassador for the school in the larger community of Dripping Springs.
- Support the vision and mission statement of Pathways School.
QUALIFICATIONS
The person selected for this position must meet the qualifications as stated in the State Minimum Standards for Day Care Centers and be a Certified Kindergarten Teacher with the State of Texas. He or she must be experienced in a preschool or elementary school setting with the appropriate early childhood education training. This person must be a positive, sensitive, and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.
