PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students, staff, and visitors throughout the high school campus. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment and assist in preventing property loss due to theft or vandalism.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or GED

• Valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to clearly and accurately record information

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Ability to work effectively with youth and adults

• Effective verbal communication skills

Experience:

• None required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Student Management

1. Patrol assigned campus areas and monitor student behavior to enforce school rules and expectations.

2. Resolve conflicts or confrontations between students and report disturbances to campus administrators.

3. Report unsafe behavior, including reckless driving, to the appropriate campus administrator.

4. Ensure students do not leave campus without proper authorization.

5. Work cooperatively with office personnel regarding student conduct concerns, including dress code and tardiness.

Security and Parking

1. Monitor exterior campus doors to ensure buildings remain secure during school hours.

2. Direct traffic and monitor parking on campus during school hours and assigned after-hours events.

3. Register student vehicles and maintain accurate parking registration records.

4. Communicate with campus office personnel regarding vehicle-related concerns.

5. Issue parking citations as necessary.

Other

1. Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.

2. Provide directions and assistance to authorized visitors.

3. Notify law enforcement, fire department, or other emergency responders when immediate assistance is required.

4. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

5. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information.

MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Tools/Equipment Used: Two-way radio, alarm system, security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing.

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs, occasional keyboarding and mouse use, and moderate driving.

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds).

Environment: Work inside and outside with exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, and vehicle exhaust; may be exposed to hazardous situations, including violent confrontations.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond quickly in emergency situations; may work prolonged hours.
