We are hiring a Commercial Manager in Elko, NV to work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with our Commercial Director with strong opportunity for leadership. This is a senior role intended for an experienced industry professional who will ramp in 30–60 days and then own day‑to‑day commercial leadership for underground (UG) core drilling, UG reverse circulation (RC), and long‑hole percussive (PDS) services in the U.S., with growing responsibility for surface RC. You’ll combine technical credibility with business acumen to win, negotiate, and steward contracts that deliver safely drilled meters at planned margin.
Ideal backgrounds:
(A) Primary target profile: 10–15 years in geology or mining engineering with progressive responsibility, credible field exposure to drilling programs (coring preferred), and demonstrated commercial judgment (pricing, contract terms, RFPs/RFQs, negotiations).
(B) Sales‑only backgrounds considered; exceptional senior sellers from heavy industrial services may be considered if they bring substantial contract/RFP ownership and can adopt mining/drilling vernacular quickly.

Responsibilities
Own the commercial lifecycle for a portfolio of UG and surface drilling services:
- Demand creation & capture: act as first point of contact for new opportunities; conduct outbound outreach, attend tradeshows, and build a regional opportunity map across Nevada and the western U.S.
- RFP/RFQ management: qualify opportunities, run go/no‑go, lead customer Q&A, and deliver compliant, on‑time proposals (technical commercial) with a clear assumptions/risks log.
- Pricing & bid strategy: partner with Operations and Finance to build costed pricing (mobilization, warehousing, consumables, crew, standby), document bid assumptions, and secure internal approvals.
- Contracting & negotiation: review and negotiate T&Cs (payment, LDs, indemnities, variations, change orders); ensure contract files are complete, approved, and communicated to field leaders.
- Key Account Management (KAM): set meeting cadence, run QBRs, present performance vs. bid, and drive renewals/expansions.
- Execution stewardship: align operations to key commercial terms (scope, rates, standby rules); monitor variance to bid and trigger corrective actions.
- Invoice accuracy & A/R: coordinate with contract administration to ensure accurate, timely billing; engage customers on disputes or delinquency.
- CRM discipline: maintain pipeline, stages, probabilities, and next steps; report weekly on bids, wins, losses, and forecast.
- Brand & presence: contribute to social/digital content that highlights our safety, capability, and project wins; present credibly to technical and executive audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Ideal Candidate — Technical Profile (Geologist/Mining Engineer):
- 10–15 years in geology or mining engineering with successive roles of increasing scope (exploration, UG operations, or drilling programs).
- Hands‑on exposure to coring (priority), plus familiarity with RC and/or PDS/long‑hole from planning through execution.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen: reviewed scopes and terms, built pricing/assumptions, authored or evaluated RFP/RFQ content, and participated in or led negotiations (contracts, supply, or bid clarifications).
- Led teams or projects (field crews, cross‑functional bid teams, or site programs) with a track record of safety and delivery.
- Produced professional technical writing and executive‑level presentations (QBRs, performance vs. bid, improvement plans).
- Senior B2B/industrial services leader with deep RFP/contract ownership and negotiation experience who can quickly demonstrate mastery of mining/drilling concepts. Considered case‑by‑case.
- Strong technical credibility in mining/drilling and ability to translate field realities into commercial terms.
- Mastery of RFP/RFQ processes, compliance matrices, and submittal packages.
- Working knowledge of contract mechanics (payment terms, LDs, indemnities, variations, notices/claims timing) and comfort partnering with Legal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (including pricing models in Excel) and CRM (Salesforce or similar).
- Willing and able to relocate to Elko, NV within 6 months (or already local); travel ~25–40% to customer sites and field operations.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to access mine sites (MSHA a plus).
- Prior ownership of UG core drilling programs; exposure to RC and PDS/long‑hole operations.
- Experience under common contract frameworks (customer standard terms; familiarity with NEC/FIDIC concepts is a plus).
- Relationships with major miners/contractors in the Great Basin.
- Data‑driven approach to pricing and post‑award variance analysis; comfort with dashboards.
- Public speaking at tradeshows/technical forums.
