Position Summary:
Perform inspection on first article and finished parts as well as produce CNC programs as needed for the machine shop. The position is to support machine shop operations within the company and requires coordination with other departmental supervisors, machinists, sub-contractors, engineering, and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts. The position reports directly to the Shop Manager.
QC Inspection Responsibilities:

Perform inspection on first article and finished parts as well as produce CNC programs as needed for the machine shop. The position is to support machine shop operations within the company and requires coordination with other departmental supervisors, machinists, sub-contractors, engineering, and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts. The position reports directly to the Shop Manager.
QC Inspection Responsibilities:
- Qualify and inspect all first article and finished parts machined in house as required.
- Qualify and inspect raw material and machined parts from outside vendors.
- Assist with the implementation of QC procedures for the company.
- Ensure all QC inspection equipment is calibrated and in good working order.
- Maintain and control the inventory all QC inspection equipment.
- Create, edit, and maintain CNC programs for HAAS and Fanuc control CNC turning centers.
- Familiar with cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools to be used on basis of experience and knowledge of metal properties to maximize efficiency and completion times.
- Interpret engineering drawings and assist production with developing traveler routing steps to complete a job.
- Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor with setups on the CNC machines.
- Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor with troubleshooting CNC program issues.
- Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor with the ordering and inventory of inserts, tooling, and other items.
- Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor to ensure all machine are running in peak condition; assist with the maintenance of all machine shop equipment.
- Help promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Drilex organization.
- Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
- Abide by all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all job-related tasks as assigned by upper management.
- Minimum High School diploma or a GED required.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and/or training in the inspection of machined parts and CNC programming.
- Ability to use Measuring Tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)
- Experience with GibbsCAM and/or similar CNC programming software.
- Knowledgeable with CNC programing of Fanuc and Haas controls.
- Experience with planning, estimating, and shop travelers.
- Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
- Candidate must have an excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to work well independently and the ability to coordinate efforts with fellow co-workers.
- Candidate needs a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time.
- Candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Pre-employment Drug Screen and Background Check are required.
- Work environment is an air-conditioned machine shop. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Candidate would be working near or around heavy machinery such as forklifts, overhead cranes, CNC and other manufacturing machines.
- Candidate would be required regularly to stand; use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; be able to walk, talk, and hear. Candidate would occasionally be required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Steel toe shoes and safety glasses are a requirement.
