Job Summary:
The Project Engineer / Assistant Estimator supports projects from preconstruction through closeout by preparing accurate estimates, supporting project execution, and assisting project management teams to deliver safe, quality, on-time, and within budgets
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Upholds and promotes the DRI-LOK Mission, Vision, and Values
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and scope of work and documents
- Assist in project estimates including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Meets and collaborates with all involved (clients/management) in proposed projects to understand the needs of the project and scope of work
- Completes scope reviews including front-end documents, addendums, plan sheets changes, and bid clarifications
- Supports
- Reviews site online or in person to understand scope requirements
- Completes bid forms, bid letters, proposals appropriately and completely
- Provides all requested breakdowns, allowances, labor rates, unit prices, and alternates
- Follow up with clients on proposal status
- Transfer estimate to a project in ProContractor/Acumatica
- Assist in submittal process
- Conducts transition meetings to convey all estimating information to leadership teams.
- Creates and submits bid packages, proposals, and bid forms
- Coordinates with Superintendents, Project Managers, Foreman, field personnel, vendors, and subcontractors
- Support change orders, cost tracking, and invoice coding
- Maintain RFI’s, submittals, logs, and project documentation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Builds client relationships
- Assist in ordering and scheduling of materials/equipment to projects
- Assist in the tracking and coding of project time entry for accuracy
- Participates in all post-project evaluation meetings to determine “lesson Learned” for future projects
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Blue Beam and Construction Drawings and Specifications
- Strong organizational, math, and communication skills
- Understanding of the process of construction
- Ability to work with little to no supervision
- Strong ability to remain flexible in job hours worked as specific assignments change
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assist in the estimates & project management depending on job type
- Strong understanding of layout, material, and equipment usage
Education and Experience:
- Valid driver’s license
- Estimating and or project support experience in waterproofing, restoration, or construction preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in building science, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent on-the-job experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse different types of worksites and bend, climb, stretch, and reach
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads at a time
- Must be able to work in a variety of environments including but not limited to concrete, dirt, fumes, and loud noise levels
- Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed
