About the Role:
The Accounts Payable Specialist plays a critical role in managing the financial transactions related to vendor payments within the real estate industry. This position ensures that all invoices are processed accurately and timely, maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal departments. The specialist will be responsible for reconciling accounts payable transactions and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. By maintaining accurate records and supporting month-end closing activities, this role contributes to the overall financial health and reporting accuracy of the organization. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency with accounting software, specifically MRI or similar ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and general ledger principles.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience working in the real estate, rental, or leasing industry.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies related to accounts payable.
- Certification such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or equivalent.
Responsibilities:
- Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in accordance with company policies.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all accounts payable activities and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to address payment inquiries and resolve issues.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including preparing reports and ensuring all payables are recorded accurately.
- Utilize accounting software, including MRI, to enter and track financial data.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Meet deadlines consistently while managing a high volume of transactions.
Skills:
The required skills such as account reconciliation and accounts payable expertise are essential for accurately processing and verifying invoices and payments on a daily basis. Proficiency in accounting software like MRI enables efficient data entry, tracking, and reporting of financial transactions. Strong knowledge of the general ledger supports accurate month-end closing and financial reconciliation activities. The ability to meet deadlines ensures timely payments and maintains vendor relationships, which is critical in the real estate and leasing industry.
