Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems across a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, alignment checks, and air brake inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Troubleshoot schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately and implement effective repair solutions.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements.
- Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery.
- Support heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic in dealership or industrial settings with strong mechanical knowledge.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and hydraulic systems repair.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
- Ability to read schematics effectively for complex machinery repairs.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, service technician techniques, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems including HVAC systems for fleet comfort management.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repair needs and timelines.
