Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Fleet Diesel Mechanic, where you will be the driving force behind maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates at peak performance, supporting our operational excellence and safety standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of machinery, including trucks, excavators, cranes, and farm equipment, in a fast-paced environment that values technical skill and proactive problem-solving. As a vital member of our maintenance team, you’ll be empowered to diagnose issues accurately and execute repairs efficiently, keeping our fleet reliable and ready for action every day.

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems across a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, alignment checks, and air brake inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Fabricate custom parts or modifications using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques to meet specific operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements.
  • Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery.
  • Support heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Skills

  • Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic in dealership or industrial settings with strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Skilled in automotive diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and hydraulic systems repair.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
  • Ability to read schematics effectively for complex machinery repairs.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, service technician techniques, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems including HVAC systems for fleet comfort management.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repair needs and timelines.
