Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized support. This role involves working closely with residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings to promote independence, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care and possess relevant experience in healthcare or social services.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, or autism care
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper safety protocols are followed
- Conduct patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior and report findings appropriately
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards
- Document care activities accurately while complying with HIPAA regulations
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Assist with transportation or community outings as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group home, assisted living, nursing home, or home health care is preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism, or other special needs is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physically demanding tasks such as Hoyer lifts or assisting with transfers
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents
