Due to growth, it has created a need for a Laboratory Technician at our corporate headquarters in McLean, VA. The R&D Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting research projects, assisting with new product formulations, and helping maintain and improve existing products. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established procedures, and the flexibility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. The Lab Technician must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and project needs. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate laboratory equipment properly, safely, and in accordance with internal SOPs.
- Perform accurate weighing, measuring, and preparation of ingredients and samples.
- Record experimental data clearly and reliably in lab notebooks and digital systems.
- Prepare food products, prototypes, and test samples by following written formulas and verbal instructions.
- Ensure correct, consistent, and accurate sample preparation for testing and evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with the Research & Development team to discuss project objectives and provide observations or suggestions when appropriate.
- Participate in product development activities, bench-top trials, and concept creation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and functional laboratory environment, including proper storage of ingredients, chemicals, and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management of raw materials, supplies, and laboratory tools.
- Follow all company food safety, quality, and safety guidelines.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent laboratory experience).
- Prior experience working in a laboratory or pilot plant environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and food handling requirements.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, formulas, and SOPs with high accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods as required by lab activities.
