Days, Some Evenings, and Some Weekends. No overnights.

As a Destiny Careers Coach, you will provide employment supports to individuals with disabilities in developing a clear understanding of their DreamCareers path and the stepping stones it may take to get there. This will include planning, facilitating, evaluating, creating, assessing, finding, supporting and writing paperwork for individuals to seek competitive employment in the community or support independent small businesses. This role goes beyond simply finding a job. It promotes independence, dignity, choice, inclusion, and self advocacy using our Person First approach which includes listening deeply to the individual, developing responsive plans, implementing responsibility, and understanding consequences.
DestinyCareer Coaches work approximately 70% of the time in the field. 30% of the job will be in required training, development to increase skills, paperwork, and other support duties.
Skills needed include:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer and technology skills including a variety of software applications.
- Working independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to individual needs and changing schedules.
- The ability to support independence while ensuring safety
- You must care and be compassionate, patient, and respectful in supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma/GED and at least 3 years of dedicated direct care experience.
- Knowledge about 245D paperwork. (Bonus points if you have knowledge of Employment Services paperwork!)
- You’ll need a valid drivers license, a reliable car, and insurance. You will be expected to drive your vehicle in the twin cities.
- You must be able to pass a background study and be comfortable working around supporting animals.
