What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist position at Dream Youth Clinic?
Position Summary:
The Program Specialist will join the Dream Youth Clinic multidisciplinary team which provides holistic wrap-around services for youth ages 13-25 years old. This role requires the ability to take initiative, multi-task, communicate effectively, and support staff in providing youth-led programming for our clients. At Dream we believe in youth-led, adult guided collaboration and are committed to "meeting youth where they are" and assisting them along their journey to wellness in an open and non-judgmental way.
The Program Specialist will support all aspects of community outreach and engagement for selected Dream Youth Clinic Programs. The Program Specialist will play a pivotal role working with the Program Team in building and maintaining relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local organizations to expand the reach and impact of our programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination, planning, and execution of selected Dream Youth Clinic programs.
- Support program team as an organizational liaison/point of contact for community partner staff for respective programs.
- Support and execute community tabling events relevant to the programs
- Support co-facilitation of selected Dream program group sessions.
- Support integration of selected Dream program activities with other youth activities at Dream Youth Clinic
- Work with and support Dream Youth leaders
- Work with staff members and support the implementation and success of programs.
- Work collaboratively with Dream Youth Clinic partners.
- Contribute to grant reports as necessary.
- Accurately report and input attendance for Dream program activities for which providing support.
Attend department and staff meetings and trainings, as necessary.
Competencies:
- High school diploma or equivalency with a minimum of 3 years experience or
- Associate degree in health sciences, social sciences, public health, business administration, public administration, social work, or related field with minimum 1 year experience
- Experience working in a non-profit organization, community clinic preferred, or youth organization.
- At least 1 years of experience working with youth. Work with youth of color, LGBTQ youth, sex trafficked youth and other youth who have been marginalized preferred.
- Experience working with marginalized youth populations locally, including communities of color preferred.
- Cultural congruence with the Dream Youth Clinic patient population.
- Enjoy working with diverse youth (cultural, linguistic, and gender diversity).
- Ability to incorporate creativity and forward thinking in working with youth.
- Trained/willing to receive training in health coaching, positive youth development, and family planning counseling, and youth sex trafficking.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in team settings.
- Interest/proficiency in working with urban underserved populations, unsheltered youth, involved in the foster care and juvenile justice system, LGBTQ and gender expansive youth, or affected by commercial sexual exploitation (CSEC).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Valid California Driver License with safe driving record.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both professional and non-professional, co-workers, management personnel, the public and others.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Clear and effective external and internal, verbal and written, communication skills.
- Computer skill proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Physical Conditions and other Requirements:
- Frequent standing, stair climbing, bending, stooping, lifting (20 lbs. max).
- Ability to work in a kitchen environment
- Gross and fine manual dexterity.
- Ability to visually observe staff and youth to understand and interpret non-verbal behavior.
- Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment including computers, computer software, copy machine, scanner, and keyboards.
- Personal transportation is preferred
- Driving to various work locations.
