Accounting Specialist
Job Description
As the Accounting Specialist at Dream Design International, Inc. and its affiliate companies, you will manage the organization’s accounting functions. The role requires an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong attention to detail and industry regulations, standards and trends.
Significant Areas of Responsibility
· Financial statement analysis
· Oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable and weekly/bi-weekly payroll functions
· Maintenance of internal controls and financial systems
· Accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management operations of the company, to include the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results
Responsibilities
· Process construction draws for multiple projects and task numerous invoices, payments and lien waivers
· Ensure integrity and validity of monthly and year-end financial statements for multiple entities
· Real estate property accounting, including acquisition of properties, construction in process, capitalization of buildings and the sale/disposition of properties; record and manage bank loans in conjunction with property accounting
· Work with government and financial institutions regarding tax increment financing projects; certification of tax increment financing districts
· Reconcile inter-company accounts with multiple corporate entities
· Liaison with outside CPA regarding accounting and income tax matters as needed
· Complete Insurance audits to maintain appropriate coverage
· Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
· Reconcile the Balance Sheets and bank accounts on a monthly basis
· Maintain fixed asset system; monthly reconciliation of fixed assets balance sheet accounts; add new vehicles and equipment to insurance policies; license all vehicles with the county when purchased and at renewal
· Prepare state sales and excise tax returns
· Process payroll, prepare & process payroll tax reports and deposits
· Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
· Provide capital project financial oversight
· Track material inventory, equipment usage and man hours for multiple projects
· Maintain daily loan and account balances on multiple accounts
· Process CAM reconciliations
Skills and Qualifications
·At least five (5) years of experience in accounting.
· Must have experience with accounting software. QuickBooks experience required.
· Familiar with Microsoft Word and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
·Bachelor’s or Associate degree in accounting, finance or business.
· Experience in construction, land development and property management (Yardi)
· Ability to multi-task and problem-solve
· Interpersonal skills, including the collaboration, communication and ability to work well with staff
· Must have extensive experience with the accounting cycle, including journal entries, financials statements and cost accounting
