Location: Dream Community Center – Westlake Village, CA
Schedule: 2–3 weekday afternoons, 3-6 hours weekly
Position Overview
Dream Community Center is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and skilled Music Instructor to lead small-group classes for neurodiverse teens and adults. This role blends music instruction with creative expression and community-building in a supportive, inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate is comfortable both teaching musical skills (e.g., guitar, piano, or other instruments) and actively participating in song performance and music-making alongside students. Classes emphasize creativity, connection, and personal growth through music.
Key Responsibilities
Lead small-group music sessions tailored to participants’ individual strengths, interests, and goals
Teach foundational and intermediate skills on instruments such as guitar, piano, drums, or others
Facilitate engaging activities such as:
Songwriting
Improvisation
Karaoke and group singing
Creative musical projects
Perform and participate musically alongside students to encourage engagement and confidence
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Support participants in developing social, emotional, and recreational skills through music
Collaborate with staff to track participant progress and adapt programming as needed
Qualifications
Experience teaching music in individual or group settings
Proficiency in at least one instrument (multi-instrumentalists preferred)
Comfort working with neurodiverse populations (experience preferred, but not required)
Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
Creative, patient, and adaptable teaching style
