Technical Production Director

Position Overview

The Technical Production Director leads all technical and production elements that support the church’s weekend services, events, and special gatherings. This role ensures every service is executed with excellence – audio, video, lighting, broadcast, stage, and volunteer teams working together to support the mission of the church. The Production Director builds systems, equips teams, elevates quality standards, and creates environments where people can encounter Jesus without distraction.

Essential Functions

1. Weekend Service & Event Execution

• Oversee all production elements for weekend services, midweek gatherings, youth services, and special events.
• Lead pre-service run-throughs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure every technical detail is ready before doors open.
• Maintain consistent excellence in audio quality, lighting design, video playback, screens, camera systems, and stage environments.

2. Leadership & Team Development:

• Recruit, train, schedule, and pastor volunteer production teams across FOH audio, monitors, lighting, ProPresenter, camera ops, broadcast, and stage management.
• Build a healthy team culture – encouraging, mentoring, and empowering volunteers to grow in both skill and spiritual maturity.
• Create training pathways and documentation for new and existing team members.

3. Systems, Maintenance, & Stewardship:

• Establish and maintain production systems, SOPs, and equipment workflows to ensure long-term reliability and smooth operation.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and upgrades of audio, video, lighting (AVL), and stage equipment.
• Manage production inventories, gear storage, and digital asset organization
• Develop and manage production budgets in partnership with leadership.

4. Creative Collaboration:

• Work closely with Worship, Communications, and Pastoral teams to plan and execute service elements.
• Contribute technical direction to creative moments such as opener videos, stage design, set changes, and seasonal experiences (Easter, Christmas, conferences).
• Support vision while maintaining feasibility, timeline, and resource stewardship.

5. Live Production & Broadcast:

• Direct or oversee live mixing, lighting design, and broadcast operations.
• Ensure the livestream experience is high-quality, reliable, and aligned with the in-room experience.
• Evaluate weekly performance and continually look for improvement opportunities.
• And other duties as assigned.

Expectations & Minimum Qualifications

• Strong competency in audio engineering, lighting systems, video production, and live broadcast environments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience—recruiting, developing, and organizing volunteer teams.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; calm under pressure.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and events simultaneously.
• A heart for ministry, a spirit of humility, and alignment with the mission and values of the church.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and special events.

Character Requirements:

• Life consistent with Biblical standards for elders (I Timothy 2; Titus 1:1-3; I Peter 5:1-4; Matthew 22:37-40)
• Exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
• Displays humility in self and boldness for Christ (Proverbs 18:12)
• Consistent witness for Jesus Christ who maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with the Church body, and the community at large
• Spiritual maturity as evidenced by integrity, honesty, kindness, purity, thoughtfulness, bravery, and a complete reliance on God
• Upholds DCC in prayer and tithes
• Adheres to the DCC Statement of Faith
• Exhibits business and personal standards as defined in the Code of Business Conduct contained within the DCC Employee Handbook

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time
• Able to sit for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time
• Able to move freely from room to room and building to building
• Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
• Have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard
