Weekend Caregiver Evenings & Overnights (Castleton) URGENT HIRING

Job Description:

Dream Believe Inspire Home Care is hiring a dependable caregiver for a consistent weekend split-shift schedule near 71st Street and Fall Creek Road on Indianapolis' northeast side.

Schedule : Friday, Saturday, Sunday:

• Evening: 4:00 PM (or 4:30 PM) – 8:00 PM
• Overnight: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• ~36 hours per weekend

Responsibilities:

Personal Care & Attendant Care:

• Assist with bathing (shower, bed bath, or sponge bath as needed) while protecting client dignity and privacy
• Oral hygiene, denture care, hair grooming, shaving, and skincare
• Toileting assistance, incontinence care, perineal hygiene, and brief/pad changes
• Dressing and undressing, including selecting weather-appropriate clothing
• Skin checks during care report redness, breakdown, or new wounds to the office immediately

Transfers & Mobility:

• Safe transfers using proper body mechanics bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to toilet, chair to standing
• Use of gait belt, transfer board, or mechanical lift per the client's care plan
• Ambulation assistance with walker, cane, or steady-arm support
• Fall prevention clear pathways, proper footwear, monitor for unsteadiness
• Range of motion assistance if included in the care plan

Meal Preparation:

• Prepare nutritious meals according to client preferences and any dietary restrictions (low-sodium, diabetic, soft diet, etc.)
• Light snacks and hydration reminders throughout shift
• Sit with client during meals when appropriate companionship matters
• Clean kitchen, wash dishes, wipe counters, and put food away after meals

Light Housekeeping & Laundry:

• Tidy living areas, make the bed, change linens
• Vacuum, sweep, mop high-traffic areas as needed
• Bathroom cleaning sink, toilet, tub/shower after use
• Wash, dry, fold, and put away client's laundry
• Take out trash and keep client's immediate environment clean and safe

Medication Reminders:

• Remind client to take medications at scheduled times per the care plan
• Bring medications, water, and pill organizer to the client
• Document medication reminders in EVR/EVV notes
• Report any missed doses, refusals, or new side effects to the office immediately
• Note: Caregivers do not administer medications reminders only

Overnight Safety Monitoring & Repositioning:

• Stay alert and awake throughout overnight shift
• Check on client at regular intervals per care plan
• Reposition every 2 hours if client is bed-bound or has limited mobility (pressure ulcer prevention)
• Respond promptly to call bell, verbal requests, or signs of distress
• Light tasks during quiet hours laundry, dishes, tidying without disturbing client's sleep
• Document overnight observations, sleep patterns, and any incidents

Overnight Bathroom Assistance:

• Assist client to the bathroom during the night as needed this is a core part of this overnight role
• Safe transfers from bed to bedside commode, wheelchair, or walker for bathroom trips
• Steady ambulation support to and from the bathroom with proper lighting and a clear path
• Toileting assistance, perineal care, and brief changes as needed
• Hand hygiene for client and caregiver after every bathroom assist
• Settle client comfortably back in bed reposition pillows, adjust blankets, refresh water
• Document each overnight bathroom assist (time, type of assistance, any concerns)
• Watch for signs of UTI, dehydration, or changes in continence patterns and report to the office
