Staff Accountant

Job Summary / Objective

Responsible for providing accurate financial information to management through comprehensive analysis and reporting, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement analysis, while ensuring adherence to GAAP, supporting month-end close processes, participating in year-end audits, and fostering strong team relationships.

Duties &Responsibilities

• Research and analyze accounting data to prepare accurate financial reports for management.
• Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Document financial transactions by entering account information into the accounting system.
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options and providing insights for decision- making.
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Participate in the monthly financial close process by ensuring proper recording of vendor payables and expenses in accordance with GAAP.
• Adhere to established closing timeline to ensure timely completion of financial close activities.
• Demonstrate commitment to accuracy by preparing well-documented journal entries in conjunction with month-end closes.
• Complete balance sheet account reconciliations by the requested monthly deadlines, performing variance analyses and adjusting entries as necessary.
• Prepare income statement analysis on various expense line items, comparing actual results to budget/forecast to identify variances and trends.
• Develop strong relationships within the team and provide analytical and investigative support to team members on an ad hoc basis.
• Assist accounting manager in day-to-day accounting tasks and participate in special ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Participate in year-end audits by supporting the senior accountant with audit requests and answering auditor questions.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements and provide necessary documentation and support during audit procedures.
• Effectively communicate progress and results to management and team members, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Meet organization objectives by contributing to the overall success of the finance and accounting department.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting

Skills/Certifications

• Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP); experience with Sage Intacct accounting software, a plus
• Ability to analyze accounting data and prepare accurate financial reports for management.
• Proficiency in understanding and applying accounting principles and standards, including GAAP.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting financial transactions and preparing journal entries.
• Knowledge of auditing processes and ability to audit financial documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Skill in identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a

fast-paced environment.
