The Draper Hardware in the Loop Simulation & Visualization Group is looking for a highly self-motivated Software Engineer to help develop and maintain our Image Generation (IG) and video display capabilities. Our organization is responsible for integrating Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware and both COTS IG software solutions and in-house graphics application development to support visual simulation and human-machine-interface (HMI) capabilities on a variety of projects.
Typical job duties include developing & integrating IG, terrain database, simulation host connectivity, and visual display capabilities for new projects, enhancing existing installations, help a project team define and verify new visualization & HMI requirements, and research new visualization application and display capabilities.
This is a hands-on technical position working with state of the art computer graphics hardware & software, video projectors, and 4K & 8K displays. This individual will interface with multiple projects to provide visual simulation expertise in a rapidly changing and evolving environment and be able to apply technical decisions to complex problems.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with software development in a Linux based environment
- Experience with one or more Image Generation software tools and/or Gaming Engines like Unity or Unreal
- Experience developing OpenGL and/or Vulkan applications using C
- Script creation in Linux and Windows environments- Bash or Powershell
- Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Additional Desired Skills:
- Modelling and simulation with Matlab & Simulink
- Game development experience
- Working knowledge of the Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) standard, prior integration experience a plus.
- Experience using Diamond Visionics GenesisIG
- Knowledgeable about current video display technologies and signal standards
- Experience working with GIS data sources (e.g. elevation data, photo imagery, Shapefiles, etc)
