Drape Art Designs is a woman owned event decor company located in Rhode Island, specializing in custom drapery and lighting installations. We are a team of passionate creatives and craftspeople, driven by a shared love for design and events. We travel to beautiful venues and private residences throughout New England to install large-scale private and corporate events.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are seeking creative individuals with a passion for design and event production. Previous experience or skill in areas of: event production, warehouse management, carpentry, electrical, fabric, and sewing are all appreciated. However, we welcome individuals with many different skill sets and a willingness to learn! A love for outdoors and hands-on work is also a plus!
Please note: This position is "seasonal" (April-December), with the opportunity for year round employment. Weekend and evening availability is required. Full time positions and freelance/contract opportunities! Pay rate is skill and experienced based.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
As an Event Rigger, you will primarily be responsible for transportation and on-site installation of overhead equipment, hardware, lighting fixtures, and decor in tents and venues. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and smooth execution of event installations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, physically active work and working on-site to set up events. Drape Art Designs is a collaborative workplace, all employees are expected and required to assist others, as needed, regardless of their position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently load and unload vehicles.
- Read and understand layouts for lighting and rigging.
- Safely and securely hang aircraft cable, chandeliers, string lights, and additional hardware from designated hang points according to diagram and/or verbal instruction.
- Collaborate with team to troubleshoot any installation or technical difficulties.
- Safely and carefully set up, move, and climb ladders up to 21'.
- Use expertise to discern what equipment and techniques serve an installation best.
- Safely and reliably drive company owned or rented box trucks/vehicles within the northeastern United States.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions to navigate unfamiliar areas and cities and locate loading docks and job sites.
Required Qualifications:
- Positive attitude and team player, willing to accept constructive feedback.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and stand/move for long periods of time.
- Comfortable climbing and working safely on ladders (15-25 feet)
- Valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and clean driving record. Comfortable driving long distances.
- Willing to travel frequently when overnight(s) are required (lodging, hourly per diem pay provided)
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to work safely and efficiently under pressure
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Lift Certification or willing to obtain (experience operating lifts is a plus!)
- Valid DOT Medical Card or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Experience in live event industry/rigging in tents and ballrooms is a plus!
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and basic power tools.
