About the Role

Drake Group is seeking an experienced EHS Professional to support offshore wind farm operations across vessel, port, and turbine environments. The EHS Professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs that protect technicians, crew, and support staff during marine transit, turbine access, and offshore work activities. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring regular presence at the port, aboard Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), and, when required, at wind turbine generators (WTGs).

This role works closely with vessel medics, project leadership, and the Health & Safety Manager to ensure compliance with OSHA, USCG, and client HSE standards, while fostering a strong proactive safety culture across all offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific HSE plans, procedures, and risk assessments for CTV and turbine-based operations
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) aboard vessels, at the port, and at turbine sites
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries; lead root cause analysis and corrective action tracking
  • Support and help lead emergency response drills (e.g., man overboard, fire, abandon ship, turbine evacuation) in coordination with vessel crew and medics
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, USCG, GWO, and client-specific safety standards across all work sites
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A/301 logs) and prepare regulatory reports and submissions as required
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding/orientation for technicians, crew, and subcontractors
  • Partner with the offshore medic and Medical Director on occupational health matters, including fitness-for-duty standards and incident medical follow-up
  • Track and manage permits-to-work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and working-at-height procedures
  • Manage PPE programs, safety equipment inventories, and compliance with GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) requirements for personnel
  • Support contractor and vendor HSE qualification, onboarding, and ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Prepare and present HSE performance metrics, trends, and lessons learned to project leadership
  • Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • 3 years of EHS experience in offshore wind, maritime, marine construction, oil & gas, or related heavy industrial/offshore environments (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, USCG, and GWO safety standards and recordkeeping requirements
  • GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) required or must be obtained prior to deployment, including Sea Survival, Working at Heights, Manual Handling, and Fire Awareness modules
  • Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, TapRooT, or similar)
  • Comfortable working aboard a small day vessel in varying sea conditions, with no adverse reaction to seasickness
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to influence safety culture across diverse teams
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in dynamic, remote, and resource-limited settings
  • Ability to pass an offshore medical fitness examination and maintain physical fitness for vessel and turbine-based duties
  • Willingness to work extended offshore rotations and daily transits in all weather conditions
  • Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite
