CPHS offers a range of undergraduate and professional degree programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with majors in Clinical & Medical Sciences, Public Health, and Health Care Administration; Master’s in Clinical Psychopharmacology (MSCP); Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD); Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD); and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN).


Job Summary:

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences ( https://www.drake.edu/hs/ ) at Drake University invites applications for a full-time 10-month course instructor and capstone coordinator beginning July 15, 2026. We seek candidates who will be knowledgeable and committed to providing rigorous and engaging learning experiences for undergraduate students enrolled in the Human Anatomy and Medical Physiology laboratory sections, as well as overseeing Health Sciences senior internship courses. Responsibilities include teaching assigned laboratory sections, preparing teaching materials, grading all lab reports and inputting into Drake’s learning management system (LMS), and otherwise assessing student learning. A bachelor's degree is required, a master’s degree preferred in physiology, biology, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field.

The Health Sciences Instructor is responsible for the education of students in the Health Sciences undergraduate program. Candidates must have the ability to work with students in both one-on-one and group instruction situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required

OTHER ESSENTIAL TRAINING AND SKILLS: A commitment to academic excellence; advanced knowledge of health sciences broadly; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Master’s degree preferred in health sciences, physiology, biology, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Previous teaching experience in laboratory courses is preferred.

Job Duties:

  • 30% - Facilitate the assigned labs and health sciences courses (i.e., facilitate labs and/or courses, prep for labs/courses, assist instructor with other duties as assigned).
  • 30% - Experiential education coordination & communications.
  • 20% - Prepare for the labs to include learning the equipment and setting up assigned teaching spaces with the proper equipment.
  • 20% - Assist with grading, reinforcement of lab materials, safety measures and precautions for all spaces and equipment utilized by the program.
