What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Engineer - Dragonfly Portfolio position at Dragonfly?
Dragonfly is a crypto-native Venture Capital and research firm with $2B in assets under management and 160 portfolio companies (see list). Our Talent team works to support the recruiting efforts of the companies within our portfolio by connecting them with talented potential candidates. We have multiple companies actively hiring Principal Frontend Engineers across different levels and specializations.
This is not a listing for an internal role at Dragonfly. This posting is for us to connect you directly with one or more of the companies in our portfolio that are actively hiring for Founding Engineers to be onsite in a NYC office.
If this description doesn’t match your background exactly but you’re an engineer excited about crypto, we encourage you to apply—we may have other opportunities that are a better fit.
What We’re Looking For:
- Built and shipped production systems supporting real users and real financial or consumer workflows where reliability mattered.
- Owned systems end-to-end, including backend services, frontend delivery, data models, and operational reliability.
- Designed and operated systems dependent on third-party infrastructure such as payments, card issuing, identity, and KYC, or other regulated services.
- Mentored or guided other engineers in high-ownership environments, even without formal management titles.
About the Role(s):
- This is a principal level engineering role with direct influence on core platform decisions at the company’s earliest stage.
- You will work closely with the CPTO, who owns product strategy and roadmap, while you own execution, technical judgment, and how the platform is built, hardened, and prepared for real-world use.
- The role is focused on the areas of greatest impact. You will coordinate and provide technical leadership to early internal engineers and contractors, while directly owning critical architecture, code paths, and production systems.
- You will be highly influential in shaping the engineering team, setting the technical bar and decision-making norms that future engineers build on.
Even if you don’t match every point above but are a seasoned engineer passionate about crypto, we encourage you to apply—there may be other opportunities that fit your skill set.
Process:
- We’ll confidentially match you with portfolio companies aligned with your background, skill set, and interests.
- If mutual interest exists between you and a team, we’ll facilitate a warm introduction.
- If there isn’t a match today, we’ll keep you top of mind for future opportunities.
Our portfolio companies are globally distributed, hiring for remote, hybrid, and in-person roles worldwide. They’re building across the entire crypto ecosystem—including DeFi, CeFi, infrastructure, L1s and L2s, creator/consumer applications, NFTs, ZK, Crypto x AI, and more.
