Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials as allowed within scope of state regulations
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately in the patient management system.
- Manage appointment scheduling, including coordinating with dental receptionists to optimize patient flow.
- Set-up/breakdown rooms, Sterilize and maintain instruments, equipment, and rooms providing a clean and professional environment
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Provide patient with post-op instructions and oral care
- Assist with presenting and discussing treatment plans
- Experience with removable prosthodontics such as dentures and partials preferred
- Experienced in taking impressions for dentures preferred
- Experience with oral surgery preferred
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in dental assisting is preferred
- X-ray certification
- High School Education or equivalent
- Proficiency in using dental systems such as Dentrix is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Ability to take vital signs and recognize changes in patient conditions during appointments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance within the practice.
