Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including exams, restorations, extractions, and prosthodontic work with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to aseptic technique standards.
- Take dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect patient health.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, including updating medical history, treatment notes, and medical documentation.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support front desk operations by assisting the scheduling receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient communication when needed.
- Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations and sterilization protocols to safeguard patient information and prevent cross-contamination.
- Utilize advanced technology such as 3D scanner for procedures to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care to promote ongoing dental wellness.
- Support the team with general dentistry tasks including medical imaging, dental terminology explanations, and understanding anatomy for accurate assistance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a busy dental clinic environment; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with chairside assisting during various dental procedures.
- Familiarity with advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with the dental team and provide clear instructions to patients.
