TITLE: See U Around Town Summer School Programming Support Staff (Multiple Positions Available)
LOCATION: Dr. Preston Williams Jr. Elementary School (One site for the summer program which includes King, Preston Williams, Thomas Paine, Leal, and Yankee Ridge Elementary School Students Grades 2-4)
SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the Program Coordinators, classroom teachers, and building administration.
SUPERVISES: Students
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
- Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
- Actively participate in the program, contribute to daily instruction, and complete all assigned tasks.
- Initiate and encourage students to attend the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
- Ask for guidance and assistance from the teacher or coordinator when unable to assist a student.
- Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
- Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior
- Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
- Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
- Work with small groups on skill-building activities
- Perform other specialized duties as assigned. (i.e., taking attendance, meal counts, program arrival and departure times)
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- An Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit is required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a school setting
- Prior experience working for USD 116 After School and/or Summer Program is preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- De-escalation strategies, social and emotional learning strategies, and relationship-building skills
- Leadership skills
- The position requires self-initiative and active engagement and participation throughout the day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Hourly position and assigned number of hours/days.
- The position is for June 8 - July 16, Monday through Thursday (closed June 19 and July 6th).
- Students will attend from 9:00 - 3:00
- Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
START DATE: Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
NOTE:
- This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
- Position contingent upon grant funding.
- Staff must formally apply by April 28, 2026.
- Hourly Position - $22/hour
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on support staff
