Position Summary

Dr. Phillips Center is expanding its reach and hitting the streets in support of Arts For Every Life®. Street Team Members/Brand Ambassadors serve as the face of the organization throughout Central Florida, representing the arts center at community events, performances, festivals, partner activations, and key neighborhood locations.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on connecting with people, naturally sparks conversation, and can make anyone feel welcomed within moments of meeting them. Successful candidates are energetic, engaging storytellers who are passionate about the performing arts, community engagement, and creating meaningful experiences. They are comfortable approaching strangers, building authentic relationships, reading a crowd, and adapting their approach to maximize engagement.

Street Team Members help bring the Dr. Phillips Center brand to life by creating memorable interactions, generating excitement around programs and performances, and capturing compelling content that showcases the organization's impact in the community. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Dr. Phillips Center, promoting performances, programs, community initiatives, and the Arts For Every Life® mission to generate awareness, interest to drive attendance and ticket sales.
  • Stay informed on arts center activities, upcoming shows, education programs, community partnerships, and special events.
  • Attend local community events, festivals, activations, and outreach opportunities (primarily evenings and weekends), creating a welcoming, fun, and energetic presence.
  • Proactively approach individuals and groups, initiate conversations, build rapport, answer questions, and create positive first impressions of the organization.
  • Act as a storyteller and community connector, sharing the impact of the arts center through engaging and authentic conversations.
  • Read audiences and social dynamics effectively, adjusting messaging, energy, and engagement strategies to connect with diverse groups and maximize participation.
  • Distribute promotional materials throughout key Orlando-area neighborhoods, campuses, businesses, restaurants, residential communities, and partner locations.
  • Represent Dr. Phillips Center during select performances and events by supporting audience engagement activities before and after shows.
  • Capture high-quality photos, videos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content during community activations and events for use across Dr. Phillips Center social media and marketing channels.
  • Identify and document engaging community stories, audience reactions, and moments that highlight the impact of the arts center.
  • Demonstrate social media awareness and an understanding of content trends, audience engagement, and brand representation.
  • Execute Street Team activations, including event setup/breakdown, logistics, promotional giveaways, contests, and community engagement activities.
  • Distribute photo releases, contest rules, winner affidavits, and promotional materials as needed.
  • Maintain promotional equipment, displays, tents, swag, collateral, and activation materials; ensure all assets are organized, professional, and event-ready.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while wearing designated Dr. Phillips Center attire/uniform in accordance with the grooming guidelines for the role and venue.
  • Attend scheduled events, trainings, and team meetings with regular and reliable attendance; communicate in timely manner for scheduling, time cards and attendance.
  • Communicate consistently with the Director of Advertising and fellow Street Team Members regarding schedules, activation needs, and event recaps.
  • Submit event summaries, engagement metrics, photos, videos, and key observations within 48 hours of each activation.
  • Follow and support all operational policies and procedures.  Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values. 
  • Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners. 
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.  Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.  Maintain Dr. Phillips Center standards of customer service at all times.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required; bilingual or multilingual a plus.
  • Naturally outgoing and confident engaging with people from all backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to initiate and sustain conversations, build relationships quickly, and make others feel welcomed and valued.
  • Strong public-facing presence with experience interacting with large crowds, audiences, or community groups.
  • Passion for the performing arts, arts education, community engagement, and cultural experiences.
  • Excellent storytelling skills with the ability to communicate organizational impact in a compelling and authentic way.
  • Ability to read people, assess engagement opportunities, and pivot communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences.
  • Social media savvy with experience creating or capturing engaging visual content for digital platforms.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability and professionalism.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow direction while also demonstrating initiative and sound judgment in the field.

Special Conditions of employment

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have reliable transportation for required off-site events and activations (mileage will be reimbursed at the Federal Mileage Rate). Valid Florida Driver's License with the ability to pass a DMV clearance required.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. Must be available to work a minimum of 10–25 hours per month, with priority availability on weekends. Hours are subject to seasonality and event schedules.

Physical Requirements

The following physical requirements must be met, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and push/pull carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to load/unload supplies, set up activation equipment, pop-up tents, tables, displays, and promotional materials.
  • Ability to stand, walk, engage guests, and speak continuously for up to four hours at a time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat and humidity for extended periods.
