The Museum is accepting applications for the position of Retail Associate. This team member is responsible for providing a “one of a kind experience” to the Museum’s 250,000 annual visitors with an emphasis on customer service inside the Gift Shop. Under the direction of the Retail Manager, this team member is responsible for assisting with duties that pertain to the retail activities of Dr Pepper Museum Gift Shop.

When working in Gift Shop, this person will primarily be stocking merchandise, maintaining a clean and tidy workspace, ringing up sales through Square Point of Sale, and assisting visitors with their purchase. They will occasionally assist with preparing e-commerce orders, incoming freight, unloading, moving products to their location, pricing and tagging as needed.

  • Knowledge of general retail operations.
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling and POS usage.
  • Skill in customer interaction and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.
  • Skill in effective cleaning and sanitation of equipment and surroundings.

Special Abilities / Requirements

  • Weekend availability is a must, with flexible weekday scheduling available.
  • Graduation from High School or GED
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in retail or food service preferred.
  • Working with the public
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, loud, and demanding environment in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to accurately follow directions from Management staff.
  • Ability to work both as a team or independently and maintain productivity during downtime.
  • Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with DPM safety program.
  • Ability to follow a written work schedule.
  • Ability to get to and from work during scheduled hours.
  • Ability and willingness to assist with visitor needs.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and maintain general knowledge of the DPM and surrounding Waco area.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and lift objects up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Compensation / Benefits:

  • Part time, non-exempt position.
  • 12-28 hours per week on average.
  • $14 per hour.
  • Opportunity to cross train in other departments.
  • Additional hours working after-hours rentals and events when available.
  • Occasional overtime hours allowed by discretion of the director.

  • Are you available to work both weekdays and weekends? We require both for hiring.
  • What days and times would you be available to work? Please be as specific as possible. If you are in school, please include that as well. The Museum is open daily from 10AM to 5:30PM (longer hours in summer). Opening shifts start around 9 and closers get out around 6:30 PM.
  • How many hours are you looking to work weekly? Please note that our minimum is 12 and our maximum is 29 for this position.
