Job Summary:
DR Medical Associates is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Coordinator to manage and maintain accurate, secure, and confidential patient health records. The ideal candidate will ensure medical documentation is complete, compliant with HIPAA regulations, and readily available to support physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. This role plays a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care by maintaining the integrity of the clinic's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, organize, and update electronic and paper medical records.
- Ensure all patient documentation is complete, accurate, and entered into the EHR system promptly.
- Process requests for medical records while complying with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and administrative personnel to obtain missing documentation.
- Scan, index, and archive patient records according to company policies.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information for record accuracy.
- Monitor record retention and destruction schedules in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with medical audits, quality assurance initiatives, and accreditation requirements.
- Support patient portal documentation and electronic record management.
- Respond to internal and external requests for medical information in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare administrative role.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management software.
- RHIT or other Health Information Management certification is a plus.
Pay: $27.00 - $31.80 per hour
