K-8 Math Instructional Coach
Reports To: Assistant Principal
Position Summary:
The Grades 3–8 Math Instructional Coach is a teacher-leader responsible for strengthening math instruction and driving student achievement across grades 3–8. The coach partners with teachers, interventionists, and administrators to improve instructional practice through data-driven coaching cycles, lesson planning, and targeted professional development. This role focuses on building teacher capacity in mathematical content knowledge, problem-solving, and standards-aligned instruction, while supporting school-wide math initiatives that promote rigor and student discourse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group instructional coaching to grades 3–8 math teachers
- Support the implementation of the school’s math curriculum, ensuring alignment to standards and best practices
- Analyze student data (i-Ready, Edmentum, interim assessments, state assessments) to inform instruction and coaching priorities
- Co-plan, model, and debrief math lessons with a focus on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving
- Observe instruction and provide clear, actionable feedback aligned to math-specific instructional practices
- Lead grade-level or department meetings focused on math data, planning, and instructional improvement
- Collaborate with interventionists to align Tier 2/3 math supports with core instruction
- Design and facilitate math-focused professional development and PLCs
- Promote student discourse, reasoning, and culturally responsive math instruction
- Support teachers in developing strong classroom systems for math workshop, small groups, and independent practice
Qualifications:
- NJ teaching certification required
- Supervisor certification preferred
- Strong math content knowledge required (demonstrated success teaching mathematics in grades 3–8)
- 5 years of math teaching experience with a track record of strong student outcomes
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading adult learning strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of math standards, mathematical practices, and effective math instruction
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable instructional moves
Strong communication and facilitation skills
Pay: $64,088.00 - $69,898.00 per year
