JOB DESCRIPTION:
Dr Ike’s is looking for an experienced Warehouse Team Lead to assist in supervising all warehouse activities, ensure efficient processes, and maximize warehouse productivity. The warehouse Team Lead responsibilities include assisting in supervising employees, coordinating logistical processes, ensuring the quality of goods, and preparing relevant documentation. To be successful as a Warehouse Team Lead you should be experienced in optimizing warehousing processes and be an effective team leader. An outstanding warehouse Team Lead should be dependable and have excellent organizational and time management skills.
Warehouse Team Lead Responsibilities:
- Assisting in supervising warehouse staff and daily activities.
- Managing, evaluate and report on warehouse productivity.
- Travel to all stores to check equipment, vehicles, and logbooks on monthly basis
- Introduce new hires to warehouse hazards, emergency exits, and safety protocols.
- Conduct brief safety huddles daily or weekly to discuss any specific hazards or recent near misses.
- Outlines the methods, software layouts to maintain optimize inventory flow (grid)
- Ensures product availability for weekly promotions – prepare for optimize picking zones to handle anticipated sales spike
- Acts as a critical bridge between floor operations and management when truckloads of products arrive. Assures inventory enters the facility accurately, safety, and on schedule.
- Warehouse team lead plays a critical role on conducting safety trainings with staff members by demonstrating equipment, hands-in- instructions for forklift, pallet jacks, specialized machinery and any related trainings.
- Establishes clear walkways and teach staff to maintain awareness around moving forklifts.
- Ensures proper use of high-visible vests, steel toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses as needed.
- Encourages staff to report hazards and suggest improvements to current safety practices.
Daily Operations:
- Track and coordinate the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Monitoring warehouse and yard activities
- Handling customer questions, concerns, and complaints
- Ordering supplies and maintaining suitable inventory levels.
- Checking orders, bills, items received, inventory, and deliveries for accuracy.
- Ensuring basic maintenance standards and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Supervise unloading of receipts of merchandise; move merchandise and supplies from receiving area to yard/warehouse.
- Supervise placement of merchandise signs and/or labels.
- Daily maintain the merchandise by stocking, facing, straightening, rotating and cleaning or any other task necessary to maintain appearance and salability. Makes sure the merchandise is placed on the racks safely and properly stored.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the pivot point/lumberyard/warehouse by keeping ground free of clutter including bands, strapping and trash.
- Cover exposed merchandise when required, to prevent weather damage.
- Maintain certification as company forklift instructor.
- Implement forklift certification course and supervise driving tests and administrate test scores with Operations Manager.
- Operate forklift safely and effectively to load, unload and move merchandise in the warehouse and storage yard.
- Review merchandise on hand and request replenishment of merchandise.
- Performs daily cycle counts as assigned by the Accounting Department.
- Efficiently manages paperwork, ensuring timely submittal of receiving paperwork, cycle counts, customer updates and follow-up.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisors/manager
Warehouse Team Lead Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or a similar management position.
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and management.
- Time management skills and the ability to delegate.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry software.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Prior supervisory experience in retail industry
- Must have strong working knowledge of retail building materials, home improvement and hardware products.
- Must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, be able to manage with limited supervision, and must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience in handling customer complaints
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- One year forklift experience
WORK AVAILABILITY:
- Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 8 to 12 hours per day, at a minimum of 48 hours per week, or such other hours per day or weeks as management determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk’ reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vison, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing ability required to listen nearby noises such as trucks, forklifts, and passersby.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
