- Role of a Freight Dispatcher
- Types of Freight and Equipment (Dry Van, Flatbed, Reefer, etc.)
- Key Players: Shippers, Carriers, Brokers, Drivers
- Track shipments and update logs and records
- Communicate with drivers to provide updates and directions
- Enter and verify data in dispatch and tracking systems
- Support dispatchers with administrative and customer service tasks
- Learning terminology, tools, and best practices
- High school student or recent graduate (ages 16–24 preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet navigation)
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
- Interest in logistics, trucking, or transportation industries
- Real-world experience in a logistics and dispatch environment
- Exposure to career pathways in trucking and transportation
- Professional development and workplace readiness skills
- Mentorship and guidance from industry professionals
