SUMMARY
Responsible for conducting a competency-based instructional program in medical assisting (MA). Provides students instruction in theory, laboratory, clinicals, and professionalism necessary for certification.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of at least three years of recent experience (within the last five years) as a Medical Assistant or related field. Must hold certification for Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Preference may be given for an Associate’s degree or higher and/or Oklahoma State Department of Education standard teaching certification in Biology and/or Health Careers Education with health-related experience.
Requirements to work toward obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree, must be willing to have a degree plan on file with CVTech. Must be eligible to obtain an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate. Must be eligible to supervise lab/clinical experiences of students in multiple health fields.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Meet and instruct students providing performance-based individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of instructional techniques
- Instruct students in the use, care, and safe operation of machinery and equipment and the care of furniture, materials, and supplies
- Instruct students in the importance and significance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits needed to gain and retain employment
- Provide student instruction and supervision in the clinical setting including communication, reporting, paperwork requirements, and health records needed for clinical experience
- Ensure all students take certification tests for which they qualify and track certification testing
- Develop, revise, and update competency-based curriculum materials including written curriculum, audio-visual instructional support materials, and utilization of the online learning management system to remain current with industry trends and technology.
- Evaluate each student’s performance based on knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in the areas being taught, maintain competency records, progress reports, attendance reports, and required health records and required vaccinations
- Assist with the placement of students available for employment or additional education experiences upon completion of the program
- Sponsor or co-sponsor a chapter of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), the student organization for students in health occupation training
- Maintain a clean and orderly classroom, lab, storage room, and office space to include safe working conditions and appropriate safety precautions per industry regulations
- Maintain a program that complies with requirements and reporting of the Oklahoma Department of Career & Technical Education (ODCTE)
- Prepares program budget annually and operates within the program budget including proper purchasing procedures, maintaining required inventory records on all equipment, supplies, and materials
- Maintain professional competence through participation in staff development, in-service activities, faculty meetings, and professional growth activities as provided by the district and within your career and technical field
- Maintains required professional credentials and CPR certification
- Work cooperatively with the Academic Center, Instructional Coaches, Instructional Services Department, Job Placement Specialist, Marketing Department, and Counselors to meet students’ needs and goals for the program
- Work cooperatively with other instructors, administration, staff, parents/guardians as needed, advisory committee, and industry to maintain positive relationships to help prepare students
- Participate in the evaluation process with the assigned administrator
- Assist in upholding and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Board of Education
- Physical presence on campus between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM, excepting an hour lunch between the hours of 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Chickasha campus; or 7:45 AM and 4:15 PM, excepting an hour lunch between the hours of 11:15 AM and 12:15 PM at Cowan and El Reno campuses.

MINIMUM REPORTING HOURS
Employee is expected to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per scheduled work day. Press of business may require employee to work outside or in addition set work hours.
