Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Billing Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will oversee the entire billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and EOBs. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This is a remote position. Employee will have the option to work from home. Experience with the MOMS system recommended.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Prepare and submit claims through MOMS system.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, initiating appeals or resubmissions as necessary to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, adjustments, and collections in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to update patient information and ensure accurate medical records management.
- Stay current with industry updates related to medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Prior experience in medical billing or coding within the MOMS system.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance claim processes.
- Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), DRG classification, and medical collection procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
