We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Optical Associate with hands-on experience in eyeglass fitting, frame styling, and patient education. This role is centered on delivering excellent care on the optical floor and supporting clinical flow in the exam room. Our ideal candidate helps patients feel confident in both their vision and their frames.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit, adjust, and dispense eyeglasses with precision and care
- Assist patients in selecting frames that meet medical and aesthetic needs
- Take accurate optical measurements (PD, seg height, etc.)
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and care instructions
- Train patients (including first-time wearers) on contact lens handling and hygiene
- Perform basic pretesting (autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging)
- Collaborate with the optometrist and optical team to ensure seamless patient care
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical environment
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in an optometry office or optical retail setting
- Strong skills in eyewear adjustments, repairs, and optical troubleshooting
- Knowledge of lens materials, coatings, and frame lines
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
- Friendly, patient-focused communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and team-oriented
- Experience with contact lens education is a plus
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems preferred
- Willingness to assist with light clinical and administrative duties as needed
