About this Job
The Louisiana State Police / Transportation Safety Services (TSS) is comprised of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE), Mobile Weight Enforcement (MWE), and Towing and Recovery Units (TRU). The primary responsibilities of TSS includes reducing the number and severity of commercial motor vehicle crashes as well as protecting the state’s highway infrastructure. TSS also ensures compliance with applicable state and federal regulations governing commercial vehicles, the towing and recovery industry, vehicle storage facilities, and motor vehicle inspection stations. These objectives are accomplished through a program of roadside safety inspections, annual facility inspections, and educational outreach initiatives.
The Administrative Program Specialist A is a professional position which receives broad supervision from an Administrative Program Manager 1 and serves as a liaison between commissioned officers conducting compliance inspections, the commercial vehicle industry, and the public. The TSS Administrative Program Specialist A uses independent knowledge of federal and state commercial vehicle regulations along with sound judgement to provide specific and situational guidance and direction to questions and/or complaints from the public regarding the applicability of the state regulations.
An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Perform administrative tasks related to Commercial Vehicle Enforcement operations
- Assist in preparing, organizing, and submitting correspondence, reports, and special requests in a timely manner
- Support the daily operations of the Louisiana Truck Center, including customer service and processing transactions
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement activities
- Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and documenting administrative hearings
- Communicate with internal staff and external stakeholders to gather required information and ensure compliance
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure efficient workflow and regulatory compliance
- Report issues, discrepancies, or operational concerns to management promptly
