Duties:
-Represent Detroit police officers charged with criminal misconduct as a direct result of police action.
-Appearances at arraignments, disciplinary hearings, Internal Affairs investigations, Office of the Chief Investigator investigations, Chief's hearings, Trial Board Hearings, and any other court proceedings for which legal representation is required.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation
Experience:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- Strong knowledge of legal principles and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice to clients
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Skills:
- Legal administrative skills, including document management and case organization
- Litigation skills, including courtroom experience and trial preparation
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively represent clients' interests
- Research skills to gather relevant information and analyze legal precedents
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
