DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal and Case Management Support

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal and Case Management Support
- Provide general legal office support to prosecutors, investigators, and Victim Witness Advocates
- Prepare legal correspondence, documents, and forms under the direction of the Prosecutor and Senior Legal Secretary, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards
- Transcribe recordings, attend meetings, and prepare meeting minutes
- Assist in maintaining court calendars and ensuring docket preparation
- Work daily in JustWare, the automated court case management system, including:
- Entering new cases in compliance with established procedures and data controls
- Maintaining active case files and closing completed cases
- Assisting with statistical data retrieval for reports and special projects
- Participate in renewal and upgrade training to maintain system certification and security controls
- Assist in guiding and training new staff on daily assignments and JustWare operations
- Support other legal support staff in daily operations and training as needed
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance
- Maintain daily office operations
- Greet the public and provide appropriate direction
- Answer and route telephone calls and take messages
- Maintain logs for incoming and outgoing mail
- Prepare travel documents and assist with scheduling and communication
- Order, inventory, and replenish office supplies, equipment, and furniture through Navajo Nation Procurement
- Receive and verify orders
- Make photocopies and scan documents
- Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences
- Assist in maintaining a healthy and professional work environment
- Submit work orders for facility maintenance issues
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental objectives
- High school diploma or GED; and Completion of a two (2)-year secretarial training program Two (2) years of general secretarial experience OR An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Favorable background investigation
- Knowledge of Navajo Nation court operations, processes, and proceedings
- Knowledge of legal office policies, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of legal terminology, legal research methods, evidentiary information gathering, and document management
- Knowledge of legal actions and strategies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications
- Skill in legal research and analysis of evidence and related data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and security requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Depending on the needs of the Navajo Nation, some incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both Navajo and English as a condition of employment.
