DPG LLC is partnering with a growing, multi‑state organization in the Rochester Hills Michigan area to identify an experienced HR Manager to lead the company's human resources function. Although titled "HR Manager," this role operates with the scope and influence of a small‑company HR Director — ideal for someone who thrives as both a strategic partner and a hands‑on practitioner.
With approximately 160 employees and continued growth ahead, you will oversee a lean, two‑person HR department (including an HR Assistant) and build the HR infrastructure needed to support scale. This is a role for a builder: someone who can modernize processes, introduce automation, and elevate the employee experience while ensuring compliance across multiple states.
You'll partner closely with the executive team to shape people strategy, strengthen culture, and implement best‑in‑class practices across employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, and talent management. At the same time, you'll be deeply involved in day‑to‑day HR operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and operational excellence.
What You Bring:
- 8 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of multi‑state employment law, benefits, payroll, and compliance.
- Proven ability to build or modernize HR processes and systems.
- Confidence partnering with executives while managing hands‑on HR work.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, automation tools, and modern HR technology.
