The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and logistics operations within a fast-paced third-party logistics (3PL) environment. This role ensures efficient execution of inbound, outbound, and inventory processes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. The Operations Supervisor leads a team of associates, drives performance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and returns
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates to meet productivity and accuracy targets
- Monitor workflow and staffing levels to ensure optimal labor utilization and schedule adherence
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA standards
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, order accuracy, on-time shipping, and inventory accuracy
- Identify operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions in real time
- Support inventory control processes including cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution
- Collaborate with customer service and clients to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
- Assist in workforce planning, including scheduling, attendance management, and performance evaluations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, preferably in a 3PL environment
- 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution processes
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Ability to analyze data and make informed operational decisions
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Experience managing operations for multiple clients in a 3PL setting
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
- Fast-paced warehouse/distribution center environment
- Exposure to moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Requires strong attention to safety and operational detail
How you will contribute
- Plan, coordinate work, train, motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of team members; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials.
- Monitor and measure team member performance for accuracy and document on daily production metrics.
- Identify and eliminate safety and housekeeping hazards to minimize workplace accidents.
- Ensure compliance of employees to processes, work instructions, standard work and work elements.
- Liaise with materials department to ensure on time receipt and shipment of material.
- Other duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma/GED required
- Experience supervising in an Automotive, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain/Logistics facility.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience and or training regarding the Occupational Health & Safety, 5S, Lean Methodologies preferred.
- Quality systems knowledge - to a reasonable level be able to monitor staff performance and costs within the department (including, but not limited to: time-keeping, quality, productivity, etc.)
