Manufacturing Engineer

DPP is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace industry.

Work location: Onsite in Huntsville, AL

Duration: 6 months

Shift: A-Shift (5:00AM-3:30PM)

Terms: W2 contract

Position description:

• As a Manufacturing Engineer III, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into operational steps and processes to produce fully functional hardware at scale.
• As a part of the Operations business unit, you will focus on the development of satellite systems aimed at solving two of the most compelling challenges today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on orbit.
• As a member of a hardworking team of engineers and specialists, you will be responsible for design, manufacturing, and testing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight.
• Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware.
• Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
• Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and test process.
• Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, integration, test, and refurbishment.
• Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
• Create in-build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design.
• Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
• Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
• Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.
• Disposition and support non-conformance repair and rework activities.
• Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions
• Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
• Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
• Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong mechanical or electrical engineering fundamentals.
• 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering capacity, including internships
• Demonstrated experience defining manufacturing process flows and selecting production equipment for electromechanical hardware.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including GD&T, tolerance analysis, precision fits, and structural assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret both mechanical drawings (GD&T) and electrical drawings (schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings).
• Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
