MADE by Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is an employment social enterprise. Our mission is to end homelessness for women through employment. We offer paid job training and employment in a supportive learning environment. DWC seeks an Interim Supervisor of Operations for the consumer products business unit who directs and coordinates activities of production and logistic teams. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position is responsible for maintaining and enforcing all company procedures, policies, and practices. The position reports to the Manager of Consumer Products.
Essential Functions

- People's development includes onboarding, training, coaching, and disciplinary action.
- Ongoing development and improvement of job-training programs to meet success goals.
- Hiring manager for operations division, including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and related human resource functions.
- Oversee operations, assign duties, and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to company policies and procedures.
- Set and maintain quality control standards, benchmarks, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Create and present quarterly operation reports on the current overall state of the business.
- Prepare work schedules and monitor adheres to time-keeping policy.
- Plan events, partner development sessions, and on-site filming schedules.
- Responsible for achieving safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards for production studios and warehouses to ensure employees follow safety measures.
- Standardize procedures to improve the safety and efficiency of direct reports.
- Monitor trends and keep a close eye on competitive brands in the marketplace.
- Utilize manufacturing management systems (WMS) and other software tools to track and analyze key performance metrics, such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rates, and productivity.
- Ongoing improvement of processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Schedule inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Utilize talent management tools to set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and implement development plans to drive employee growth and career advancement.
- Create, update, and roll out standard operating procedures for staff.
- Participate in strategic planning to create initiatives that meet company goals.
- Work closely with the management team to develop and monitor budgets, control expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
- Partner with team to control inventory including reducing overstock and deadstock.
- Collaborates with Product and Industrial Engineers in the development and design of new products and the setting of ‘standard’ times for operations.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities of regular staff and trainees.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office, production, and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as an E-commerce website, POS systems, inventory management systems, and light manufacturing equipment, etc.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision with the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool, lift, and transport inventory up to 35 lbs., and travel between the DWC campuses on a regular basis, partners, wholesale accounts, pop-up venues, and the sales showroom as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position. Standard schedule is weekly Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (with flexibility to work occasional Saturday, Sunday, early and late shifts)
Travel
Travel between DWC campus and travel to off-site events, partners, and retailers is a requirement for this position.
Work Location
This is an on-site supervisor position.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- An associate degree required.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or social enterprise is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in business development, brand development, or product development.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience supervising staff Possess knowledge of retail and/or social enterprise business management including food handling and management knowledge, staff management, extensive customer service knowledge, POS systems management, revenue tracking and analysis, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
- Knowledge of issues related to women’s poverty, homelessness, and mental health is a plus.
- Cultural humility.
- Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.
- Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
Pay Range
$70,304-$70,804/yearly
Work Authorization
Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. DWC does not sponsor employment visas, such as H-1B.
