Lead Early Childhood/ Preschool Teacher

Job Description

Downtown Preschool is seeking a dedicated, supportive Early Learning Professional to step into the role of a Lead Educator within our play-focused preschool. In this position, you will cultivate a secure, welcoming, equitable, and accessible space for learners ages 3 through 5. You will guide every student's social-emotional development, intellectual curiosity, and motor skills through thoughtful daily instruction.

Primary Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Learning Environment

• Craft and execute a dynamic, child-led educational framework that incorporates foundational literacy, math concepts, and active exploration.
• Preserve a peaceful, organized, and captivating setting that fosters self-reliance and relies on constructive behavioral support.
• Tailor teaching strategies and learning experiences to align with both overall group needs and specific student abilities.
• Maintain complete compliance with state early education standards, sanitation protocols, and child safety mandates.

Child Progress Tracking & Teamwork

• Track, record, and evaluate developmental progress to confirm key growth indicators and tailor personalized learning plans.
• Partner effectively with your Assistant Teacher to outline clear responsibilities, maintain daily structure, and build a unified classroom unit.
• Maximize weekly dedicated non-instructional hours to organize lessons, review work, and complete student assessments.

Parent Partnerships & School Life

• Foster meaningful, open partnerships with guardians by routinely sharing daily highlights and individual milestone progress.
• Respond to family questions or issues with care, offering practical strategies and educational tools.
• Contribute actively to the broader school ecosystem through leadership meetings, seasonal events, and parental involvement.

Professional Standards & Development

• Take part in staff training as needed, supervisory check-ins, and peer guidance to expand instructional techniques.
• Uphold a high standard of workplace reliability, punctuality, and professional ethics.

Requirements & Skills

• Credentials: EEC Lead Teacher Certification required.
• Academic Background: Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education or specific early childhood coursework and work experience.
• Safety Mandates: Current First Aid and CPR credentials.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional interpersonal and written communication; proven problem-solving, mediation, and teamwork abilities; warm, inventive, and calm demeanor.
