Help Wanted: BAKER (Part-time)

Do you like to bake? Then Downtown Grocery is the place for you! This is the ideal position for someone whom likes to bake! It's easy hours too, typically 8-hour shifts from about 7 :30AM to 3:30 PM, between Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays.

Downtown Grocery is a lively and community-focused grocery store featuring an everyday farmers market and prepared foods "made in our kitchen." After overcoming challenges, including a fire, we have rebuilt our store into a modern yet historic space that features an Everyday Farmer’s Market and a Kitchen that prepares world-inspired foods and delicious baked goods. In our Kitchen, we specialize in made-from-scratch foods including soups, entree's, sides, appetizers, sauces, salads, dressings, croutons, and bakery. In our Market, we feature produce, dairy, meats, frozen, bulk, beer, wine, and wellness. SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Baker to join our team at Downtown Grocery. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a variety of baked goods that delight our customers. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing our Kitchen's offerings and maintaining our reputation for quality. We've also discovered that good home-bakers have been successful in our bakery, as the qualities that we're seeking is a mindful person whom loves to bake! Therefore, a skilled home baker fits our team well too!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

--- Prepare made-from-scratch baked goods including old-fashioned favorites and unique items.

--- Such as muffins, bars, cakes, cookies, granola, and pies.

--- Demonstrate an ability to follow recipes while maintaining consistency, quality and uniqueness.

--- Work independently where all tasks from prep to clean-up is the job responsibility.

--- Demonstrate an ability to plan and complete tasks from start to finish.

--- Develop new recipes from world-inspired flavors and old-fashioned favorites.

--- Be mindful of food allergies such as gluten-free and dairy-free.

--- Incorporate local, regional, and organic ingredients into the prepared selections.

--- Keep kitchen clean, orderly, and organized.

--- Demonstrate the use, knowledge, and importance of food safety procedures.

--- Be friendly and agreeable with other team members to maintain quality and unique bakery selections!

INTERESTED APPLICANTS

We are looking for a team-player that likes to work in a fast-paced environment while completing tasks per time-sensitive schedules. Applicants should be flexible, accurate, and speedy with the ability to work independently and to work in a team. The position requires a high school diploma, and a college degree or diploma is preferred. Demonstrated work experience is preferred for this position. The Food Safety certificate is required, if the applicant does not hold a certificate, we'll pay for you to attend the class at the end of the probationary period.

PAY AND BENEFITS

We're a performance-based organization and increase compensation for those demonstrating an ability to understand our team, business, and customers. Pay is based on experience and an ability to contribute to the team.
